This article provides an overview of the various membership statuses and clarifies what each status signifies for members.
Membership Status refers to the classification assigned to users based on their current membership standing within the association. This status indicates the level of access and benefits a member is entitled to. The names of the membership statuses vary depending on whether you are using the admin site or executing bulk import and export operations.
Admin Site
The admin site categorizes users into three distinct membership statuses based on their membership standing: Active, Lapsed, and Not a Member.
When using the Admin Site, you can conveniently filter membership statuses by clicking the dropdown menu and selecting a specific status. This action will display only the members that correspond to the chosen membership status.
You can also export members with the selected membership status by clicking the download icon located in the upper left corner. This action will generate a link to download the membership list which will be sent to your email. Simply click the link to initiate the download, and once the file is saved, you can open it in your preferred application.
- Active membership status applies to users who are currently recognized as members. In cases where an external Association Management System (AMS) is utilized, these individuals are identified as members through the member definition set in the integration process. For those using Tradewing as their AMS, members are designated as "Member" either through manual entry or by performing a bulk import of member data.
- Lapsed membership status applies to users who were once members but have not completed their membership renewal by the designated due date. As a result, lapsed members lose access to the benefits and privileges that active members enjoy.
- Not a member status applies to users who have never had a membership history with your association. This includes individuals who did not purchase a membership or were imported into the system without an assigned membership status.
Bulk Import and Export
When you conduct a bulk import or export, the CSV file will display additional membership statuses. This information serves as a valuable reference for accurately filling in the membership status column during your bulk operations.
- In Good Standing refers to users who currently hold an active membership within their membership cycle. These members are not required to make any additional payments at this time, as their renewal period has not yet begun.
- Up for Renewal refers to users who possess an active membership, but are currently in the process of renewing their membership for the next cycle. These users can easily log into their Tradewing account to submit their payment for the upcoming renewal. It's important to note that the duration of the renewal period can vary depending on the type of membership, and administrators can modify this period as needed.
- Graced refers to users whose membership has expired, yet they continue to enjoy member benefits because they are within a grace period. These benefits will be discontinued once the grace period ends, unless the user takes action to renew their membership by making a payment.
- Lapsed refers to members who have exceeded the grace period and are no longer eligible for membership benefits. To regain access to these benefits, they must sign up for a new membership.
- Not a member status applies to users who have never had a membership history with your association. This includes individuals who did not purchase a membership or were imported into the system without an assigned membership status.
